Power Steering

Quick question, i was at Vauxhall yesterday getting my service book stamped in the freezing cold. When i got back into my car started it fine, only to see that the power steering light was on and the steering heavy.

I turned the engine off and started it again and it was fine. So i popped back in and spoke to the service manager. He told me that when the temp outside drops sometimes the power steering fails.

Is this correct or are they just trying to get out of a warranty claim?

Not sure if it is just in my head, but the steering feels a little heavier - although it could be the ice melting now.

My Signum did this a couple of times. Then just stopped. Don't worry too much unless it keeps happening imo

Just make sure the fault is logged with the service manager, then if it keeps re-occuring there's evidence of when it started.
