Tracking?
Crap tyres?
Go to a good name garage and get a 4 wheel laser alignment done, tracking may be out!
Wear in steering rack ends? or suspension bushes can cause this.
your probably right big sigCode:Crap tyres?
thanks for the help at lest when i go to the garage the guy will think i no a bit and not rip me off lol
What you are discribing is called 'Tramlining' effect. Whatever the cause it will often be more pronounced in very cold weather due to the walls of the tyres being stiffer. I experience it very slightly on my BM 3 series which is fitted with runflat tyres (stiff sidewalls), and my last new Insignia suffered very badly with tramlining mainly due to the very wide tyres I think and too light steering.
Certainly worth getting it checked out in case there are any underlying wear issues which is inducing the effect.
as above(67688c) what size wheels and tyres have you got fitted ??
0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
Agreed 67688c...experienced it again today entering the M1 @ Junction 31 South....looked like the cause was two tracks in the nearside lane where HGV's and other 'heavy' vehicles tend to run compressing the Tarmac.
Our 55 reg Facelift Club with the Z18XE engine is currently running on
205/55 x 16 Bridgestones on the front @ 32PSI, fitted about 20 months ago) and 205/55 x 16 Uniroyal Rallyes on the rear @ 35PSI (Fitted about 12 months ago) - about 3PSI higher than 'Normal' in the handbook for improved fuel economy. They have proved to be a b**st**d in snow & slush... could not reverse up a slight incline on our drive this morning....
MOT done Saturday...it passed...no issues with suspension or AR bushes or shockers front or rear, no worn steering issues, track rod bushes or the like, tyre wear is excellent...the lower the profile & wider the tyres the worse the problem in my opinion...Cheers
my tyres are 215/50 x 17 and think they are fuzion. i really need it fixed as its very dangerous so will be taking it to the garage soon as.
