Do I need Tech2 or could OpCom/VauxCom work?

Have a friend with a Vectra with Z18XE engine, and probably dead ECM. He can get a "new" ECM who is properly tech2-ed out of donorcar (only £300, puh!). Should I be able to register the new ECM with OpCom/VXCom (guess Ill need the carpass, and of course find the correct button...), or do we have to go to a proper garage with tech2? Its pretty urgent (probably done tomorrow), and the car is situated pretty far away from a garage, so if we could use OpCom we would save some time and money...

From what I know you can't use OP-COM for this sort of things, but I could be wrong. Good luck with the repair!

IF you have a op-com with latest release ( i have one from oktober 09) there i could change the ECM and program a new one..

(they had to make a new relase just to make my car work as nothing was working.. they found out they never made it compatable with the software/hardware in my car.. but they do now )

but its not sure that a propper op-com/vaux-com would work with that car.. as not all hardware is in yet so probaly need tech2.

Don't know yet, he is still waiting for the "new" ECM. Ill feedback here when we know more
