Know the feeling matey, weve had nothing but thick frozen solid ice for days now with no gritting at all by the local council. The main problem is our long driveway which is just a sheet of ice, our Freelander too was just spinning all wheels on the spot and going nowwhere, I'm currently waiting for 5cwt of salted grit to be delivered so we can spread it down the drive. We had no problems until we decided to have it tarmaced earlier in the year, now we have to throw some of the same ash stuff that was down before on the top so we can get out...lol
My rear wheel drive BM is stopping in the garage, but even a 4x4 is useless on sheet ice. Looks like buying something with tracks next time..lol

I find the V6 comes into its own in this. Loads of torque and a heavy front end. Keep your foot of the accelerator and smile as you overtake teh rest of the world

I've just spent 45 minutes stuck in the car park of my doctor's surgery, in my Siggy; made the mistake of entering it even though it's an incline to get out again, and found that the other half a dozen cars in there already were all stuck. The whole car park was covered in inch thick ice with a thin layer of snow on top to hide it. The receptionist lent me a shovel, so I spent 30 mins trying to clear all the ice out of my way, but when it became apparent that would have taken hours, the other drivers and I banded together to push each other cars up the hill (whilst they were being driven). After 15 minutes of that, we were all free at last!

Stopped off at Halfords on the way back, picked up a Haldex clutch, and have just fitted it and made my Siggy 4-wheel drive. Now I'm going to fit roo-bars, an electric winch, roof rack, ladder that goes up the tailgate, a snorkel for the air intake, and chunky 85-section BF Goodrich all terrain tyres.

I think that applies to most oilburners mate, my 1.9 sets off up hill & then into second with having to rev the motor

The accelerator pedal is only really there for decoration in the diesel, my 1.9 just spins if i touch it. Found this out last year when my speedo said 55 and my car was stationary!
