    Vehicle : Insignia

    Trim : Sri

    Engine : 140 Ecoflex S/S

    Year : 2013

    Default

Benefits over the 215/50/17 - more choice and generally cheaper than 215/50's.

Downside - slightly more gap between your tyres and the arches.

    215/50R17 against the 225/45R17
The 45 profile will have a slightly harsher / firmer ride, but it's hardly noticeable

For standard tyres, there is little benefit or cost saving
For XL tyres, the savings can be substatantial on the same specifications (Good Year / Michelin at £150/£200 down to £100/£160)

You will need to change the tyre group in Tech 2 to change the speedo calibration.

    215 50 17, 225 45 18 and 235 35 19's are in one group.

The 16" tyre (Can;t remember the size) and the 225 45 17" tyre is in another group.

Easy enough job to do though.

You won't need too as some choose to and some dont. Its not a bad thing though
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

There is no need to chaneg the speedo calibration on 215/50R17 and 225/45R17, the rolling radius is almost identical

However, it would be necessary for 215/55R16 to 205/55R16

At least in the Vectra it is easily done via TEC2
On other cars it can be more involved
Ironically, the cost is about the same!
