    Default 2.0TDi Queries

    Merry Christmas all

    After the last saga with my other Vectra im being a bit more cautious

    One car that cropped up is an '02 C 2.0TDi, its got 82K on the clock, runs pretty well, no funny noises or vibrations and in good condition etc..

    The outfit selling it has a decent reputation but the service history is a little sketchy on the car everything else checks out, its HPI clear the miles are genuine (this time), the engine bay is absluteley immaculate. I'm trying to contact the previous owner (who was an engineer) to find out about its history,

    My biggest question is this: Is there a major service due on this car about the 80,000 miles mark? i know this model is the chain driven lump but are things like the accessories run off a belt drive?

    I had a good look on here but can't seem to find anything about the 80K service on these? i'm reluctant to pay the asking price and then another few hundred quid for a big service shortly after....

    I have a dti and its near 150,000 mate as long as you do regular oil changes/air filter/fuel filter it will run on forever ( don't hold me to it ) it is chain driven but afaik these are very reliable and wont need changing as much as a belt driven veccy.

    ive driven a 2.0 DTI in the vec B and vec C for the last 10 years and found the engine to be a soilid bit of kit , id say its things that are attatched to the engine that will fail first , my 52 plate C Elite has now done 135K and runs as good as the day i got it 3 and a half years ago... i ran my B till 198K then px,ed it for the C

    Cheers guys, much appreciated


    I had a chat with the guy that had it last, turns out we have met at one time or another! - He has taken good care of the car, had the oil, belt & flow meter sensor done 4-5K ago seemed very genuine, the chap at the garage was a laugh (typical old chap at a village garage). So... looks like I will take the plunge at buy it!

    Albeit its not got grunt of the cdti it dont have the cdti probs (swirl valves , dual mass flywheel and so on) the DTI is a good all round lump , i'll defo be running this one into the 200K,s

    It does have a DMF they are prone on all diesels and cost an arm and leg to put right but if it drives ok and clutch feels ok then i'm sure it will be.......
