Default Hey guys im new here and need help on the car

Hey, im doing this for my dad as i always use astraownersclub if somethings up with my car.

right, he owns a vectra c LS estate on a 53plate. The problem is, is that the key for the car is in abit of a mess, so now the fob dont lock or unlock the car so we got to use the key hole. anyway everytime we put the key in the ignition it keeps coming up with a car with a padlock over it? It takes about 5-10mins to keep putting the key in and out to finally get it to work. I opened up the key and it seems that the card inside the key is missing for the imobiliser. but then the car wouldnt read anything at all? really we need a new key but we dont really want to go to vauxhall and pay there prices and about £80 an hour labour. as if we get a new key its got to be programmed. is there any other place that could do this? kwik fit? buy a key from ebay? then get it programmed somewhere?

    help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks alot Sam

Thread moved to the right section and if you need a key the best and only place really for the Vectra C is Vauxhall I got a key already cut and programmed to the car for £60 all in from the dealers. A blank will cost you to have it cut and programmed and all in all the dealers aint that pricey compared to some, my mate lost his key for his Megane and it cost him £500 for a replacement from Renault.

What is the actualy problem? The key or the electronics? If you don't need the actual blade, then I think you can get any fob and have it reprogrammed to your car (as long as you have the car pass codes).

Have you tried changing the battery in the fob?

Any place with Tec 2 can do this (or anyone with OP COM or VAUX COM)

Sounds like the key is goosed. £100ish for a new one I am afraid.

Does he have the car pass or a spare key?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
