    Lightbulb Car Audio Advice Please

    Hey folks.

I have a 2003 2.2 SRI. Was wondering if anyone could offer advice on my car audio.

    1. I am getting a new non standard head unit and wondered how I get the steering controls to work? And how my dash Trip display will change when compatable with the new stereo / Radio?

    2. I wanted to upgrade my standard speakers, is there a size or make that will enable a direct swap and no modification or cutting?

    3. Any sub / amp wiring guides?

    Cheers! Merry Xmas.

you need the correct patch leads for the steering controls to work. think there are two you can buy auto leads and connects2

you will lose the top line of the screen which usually says what track its on. the restwill be fine..

to upgrade the standard speakers pioneer do a straight replacement but are about 100 a pair.. or you can buy the adapters and some different make 6.5" speakers

there are loads of threads on here about sub amp wiring guides, what do you need to know.???.

    hope this helps..

Your best bet with wiring etc would be to find someone nearby who can help you and do it with them. It's how I learnt, and you learn to do it right when it's your own motor!

Keithy? We'll stick with Keith mate if it's all the same to you! I've just bought e new headunit and am going to stick with replacing the speakers I think, although like everything else I'm sure I'll get carried away.

let us know how you get on with them. What you gone for? Is there any good replacements for those in the back? I don't really want to stick any in the parcel shelf.

    Thumbs up

    Cheers boys.

Getting a cracking new Kenwood KDC-W7044U stereo from Santa so wanting to make sure everythings sorted.

I looked at the Kenwood website and they suggested I might need an interface unit and an adapter to enable OEM steering controls?

So I take it 6.5" is the standard size for front and rear speakers? What is the adapter you mentioned that I might need to change to other speakers other than the direct swap (expensive!) pioneers?

    Cheers!
