I can't help as to the nature of the fault, other than to suggest you get the code read ASAP.

But with regards to the potential cause, and what you should do next:

Ring the petrol station up, they will possibly confirm other breakdown and/or complaints. Obviously, if there is a problem with the diesel you will not be the only person to suffer.

You can also ring Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 to register your complaint. They will pass it on to Trading Standards for your area, Sandwell I guess, who will be more able to act should they recieve a group of complaints about fuel contamination or fuel quality issues. This will help if the fuel is the problem.

I see you have a 1.9 cdti Vec, is it the 16 valve engine? The symptoms you have described are similar to what happens when the electrical connector on one of the fuel injectors becomes a bit dodgy, usually the plug on No 3 injector. Vauxhall sell a short bit of wiring loom to repair this as it is a known fault on the 1.9 engine. I may be totally wrong here but its worth checking if the injector plug has ot been replaced in the past.

this happened to me. It starts off slowly then eventually eml and limp mode follow. Check your connectors to see if they are blue or yellow. Reading the codes would also help diagnose.
