Default Vectra C blowing cold air

    Hi,
New to the site and looking for some assistance...
I've got a 2004 Vectra C 1.8LS 5 door with the heater blowing constant cold air, regardless of control setting. Had to top up with water several times recently and the temp guage rarely rises much, but the heater was ok till today. Checked and water level is ok...
    any ideas would be great!!

    Hi
If the heater is poor and temp gauge doesn't move then I would try replacing the thermostat. I replaced the one on my 1.8 club and what a vast difference it made. The fact that it is either using water or leaking water is not good. If it is leaking then try and find the leak and repair. If it is using water then it may be needing a cylinder head gasket replaced. Remove the oil filler cap off the top of the engine and see if the oil is a sludgy white emulsion colour which may indicate the oil and water is mixing. It could also be the water is leakin from the water channels and getting into the bores and being turned into steam when the vehicle is running but this would cause a high build up of pressure in the water system so be careful when removing the water cap if the engine has been running.
