    Default Wipers Misbehaving...

    Hey,

I am having a problem with the wipers on my 06 Vectra.

I have read some similar posts oo here but they differ from my problem.

Normally when I press down on the wiper stick it wipes once, but as of this morning (icy) I have to hold the stick down. If I let go, the wipers stop immediately.

Also, when I press the stick up once it is normally intermittent, then up again for normal, and again for fast. Now if I press up once the wipers miss the intermittent step and they are on normal.

When I try and pull the stick towards me to spray, nothing happens at all.

Does anybody know what the problem could be? It was -3 when I used the wipers this morning... but I did make sure they were clear of ice before. Has this broken them?

I was just about to post with the same problem! I took it to the dealers yesterday but they couldn't find a problem. They went back to normal when I tried later in the day. I had the same problem this morning though, -3 temperature. it's booked in for Tuesday.

I posted something on here with no reponse when mine did it a while ago... however found the problem!!!!

Mine worked this morning at minus 5 when it was icey.. however so did my washer pump. They carried on working all day til it dropped to minus 7.. tried to clear windscreen and it was frozen, after a few attempts the washer motor stops altogether.. and then the wipers dont self park!

I think there may be one of those fuses that can break then reapply like a circuit breaker? Havent had a look but somehow the car cuts off the circuit to the washer pump when its not able to spin? It worked again later when the washer fluid had thawed.

I could be wrong but that seems to be the case with mine anyway ur not alone

I would like to mention that none of my washer pumps work anymore by the way... lol! Although it was minus 25 last night, and hasnt topped minus 9 so it could be why. Even the undiluted 1:5 screenwash I had in the shed was frozen :O

Hmmm I remember seeing that a while ago too.. but I dont think its the same problem. Surely everyones motors aren't packing up just because its got icey...? I think I will wait til its thawed out first.. hope and pray! Hope and pray!
