    Default 1.9CDTI or 3.0CDTI

As some of you will be aware I have had a bump in my car and it's looking as if its going to be a total loss will find out Friday or Monday.

In the mean time I have been looking around for a replacement car, I'm wanting another Vectra Elite possible an estate but don't know what engine to get do I get a 1.9 and put my BSR back on it or do I get a 3.0 car will be a face lift model and ideally automatic.

What would your Choice be???? and why

well my take on diesels is you buy them for fuel economy so why buy a 3.0 and lose that? Fuel economy, buy a 1.9CDTI. Speed, buy a VXR all other models are pointless (jk btw)

Sat in a Facelift 3.0 Elite Auto. That had 37mpg and 33mpg showing on the BC thing.

    Hi,
First post on here, been lurking for a few days.

Got myself a 2005 Vectra 3.0 V6 diesel auto the other day, have to say its a fantastic motor, plenty of acceleration, effortless overtaking, and with a light right foot I'm getting about 30-31 mpg around town with a bit of open road 40mph thrown in.

Not taken it for a proper run yet, but lots of people seem to get high 40's mpg on a decent run at 70+mph.

Fuel economy is only slightly less than my old Peugeot 307 2.0 Dturbo, but probably because I used to thrape it because it had no power

    Hope this helps

Interesting one. OK here's my thoughts.

    On the 3.0.....

    1) 3.0 sounds much better than the 1.9.
    2) In standard form the 3.0 is slightly quicker and VERY smooth.
    3) Has twin exit exhausts (Major decision factor lol)
    4) If used mainly for town work, then it can be thirsty.
    5) Servicng is more expensive.

    On the 1.9.....

    1) Much better fuel ecomony
    2) Cheaper to tax (£150 1.9 vs £215 3.0)
    3) Quicker with a re-map and still better on the mpg.

Speaking from experience from both models, both are reliable and easy to live with. But although I will always be a fan of the 1.9 there is something about the 3.0 that is addictive. If your not doing silly miles, then get the 3.0 but remember thats where it ends as you can't really tune it.

But it is worth remembering, if your used to a re-mapped 1.9, the 3.0 will feel a little lethargic.

No offence to any heurse drivers, but if you're going for an estate imo the Signum is a lot more flattering than the Veccy estate
