Default bad day or good day....?

As some of you might know I work in the ambulance service and my shift today has been one of the ****test, but on the other hand its been quite rewarding.....I had a chap in his fifties having a massive heart attack, and while we were going about his treatment he went into cardiac arrest....I shocked him with the defib, and brought him back......25 minutes later he is in hospital sat up talking and thanking us for saving his life..... all his family did the same...this dosent happen too often (it aint like casualty !!!)..I cant say how good it feels to be appreciated like this..

on the other hand, i had a call to a baby.....not breathing and fitting....we managed to control the fit after 20 mins, but had to breath for them as the baby wouldnt make any respiratory effort. We got into hospital and a whole host of medical staff took over....the family were distraught, but yet they thanked us for our efforts.....it brought me to tears....at the latest the baby is still critical...

I think what im trying to say is that for every good thing, theres a bad thing

thanks for taking the time to read this people, and I apologise if it upsets anyone...Bob

Lost for words mate, it sounds wrong but if as you say one good ting deserves a bad it's terrible the bad has to happen to a baby.
As for my day, well all the family drove up the A1 to Rutland water & spent best part of 9 hours there. Went for a bike ride as some of you know I have the Brighton bike ride this coming Sunday & I ended up getting lost. The lake circuit is only 17 miles yet I managed to clock up 28 & really caught the sun in process.
Just got home, down loaded my work for tomorrow & now gonna stick my face in the fridge so I stand a chance of sleeping, that's stupid thing to say, tonight I feel I'm gonna sleep like a baby.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for you guys in the paramadic/ambulance business. I see the work you do on a daily basis and know what you have to put up with from the dodgier side of Joe Public and how hard you work to keep us alive when we need you. I've seen the emotional distress on crews faces when things don't always work out as well as you wish.

I also know how much you appreciate it when someone gives you well deserved thanks....So...

Thank you to you and your colleagues for doing such an outstanding and often thankless job
