    Default Other forums

As some of you will know from other threads it looks like I may be getting rid of the Vectra after xmas.

In preparation for my new vehicle I decided to join another forum, and although I know things don’t always run smoothly on here I would just like to say that compared to others this place is amazing.

So I would like you all to give yourselves a pat on the back.

Even if I do go ahead with the change I will still be pestering you all for both your banter and superior knowledge.

Just to give you a quick example of the new site I joined I asked a question about decating the car (its a diesel) and in 48 hours the only response I have had is to tell me that I should basically burn in hell for suggesting something that might pollute the atmosphere.

I do 6000 miles a year and cycle most places. So what if I want to make the most of those 6000 miles.

Anyway rant over and thank you all

    Stephen

Thank you kind Sir! We (Admin) are all human (no, honestly we are! lol) and given that we all spend our time here voluntarily, other menial little things such as work, personal lives, family etc. means we can't be always doing club stuff 24/7 (shock horror revelation! lol) so inevitably there are times when things take time to sort out/progress, and being human we make mistakes and learn from those. Some people, as we've seen, simply don't understand, appreciate or respect and are far too quick to criticise. So thank you for taking the time to post that and highlight the fact that whilst there may be the odd hiccup here and there with things, it's a damn site better place to be than so many others.

It goes without saying that a major contributing factor to this is the time given by the Mods and ROs (past and present) and the support from the majority of members, so big to them too.

The lack of other responses to my question wsnt the problem. That was one example and I have made other posts and read through lots of other posts on the site and the atmosphere of most posts is one of tension. There are a couple of things I prefer about the forum in question (eg. They have a Wiki section) but in general it just doesnt compare. Only a handful of people seem to listen to what others have to say, and instead of offering advice and accepting others the general attitude when responding to queries seems to be that only that individuals opinions can possibly be correct.

Anyway this was meant to be a thank you post to the forum and its members.

    So

    Thank you all

I have to agree, but I found that its generally the VX community that look out for each other as a whole. I post/have posted on Fiat, Saab, Ford ST and Audi forums and there all very cold places, especially Audi. TBH DW to me now feels more like a general Car forum that also does detailing and there's some really suck up .... over there.

In defence of the BM forums, I've been using the Land for a few months and have found the guys on there to be helpful and friendly. Good experiences on the E90 forum too.

I've not found them any less obliging than on here, they even overlooked the fact I used to be a VX owner. which shows how understanding and compasionate they are.

I remember my old polo forum was quite friendly place and a bit of a laugh, and i find this one much the same... Although the audience is a little older as the polo was mainly 17-20 year olds..... Not like the relics you find on here

But i do quite like this forum... Without it id have nothing to waste my time on
