Default Checked the Swirl Bar and pots-think they are OK, please check!!!

I started the car and rev'd it and the bar moves and so do the pots, so do I assume they are functioning correctly and are not contributing towards the lack of power sub 2k rpm.

For those of you who arent familiar with me, its a CDTI 150 Facelift!

    See piccies below!

If the bar moves then its working ok, but looking at that picture it looks quite oiled and filthy and looks the way the my manifold did before it went.

Is there much in the way of play up and down from the connecting bar? If so, it could well be contributing fella as suggested on the phone yesterday. Fingers crossed its not the problem, as IIRC you said that the manifold was replaced under warranty fairly recently.

Nick, doesnt seem to be any play, but then again, I didnt touch as the last thing I want to do is make it fall off! But it seems to be "swirling" freely. Yep mate, from our convo yesterday youa re right, the Swirl Valve and Inlet Manifold was replaced 2 years ago when we bought the car, so I dread to think thats its scuppered again!

Looks ok, but fairly gunked up. My 4th swirl is getting gunked, but the other three are fine. I suspect it's the start of the knackered manifold scenario, as i recently had the EGR and 3rd injector wiring done under warranty, to cure:

    Poor startup/juddering
    Poor fuel consumption
    Smoking from exhaust when juddering
On/off acceleration under full right foot (power dips off for a split second, then comes back on)
    No acceleration under 2k

Poor startup/juddering - dont get this, only wobble on idle
Poor fuel consumption - not considerably, mid-high 30's in town.
Smoking from exhaust when juddering- none!
On/off acceleration under full right foot (power dips off for a split second, then comes back on) - only sub 2k rpm
No acceleration under 2k - THIS IS THE BAD BOY!

I have this on my car too!!!!! Me thinks I have the same problem as you Vaux-Man...The only difference would be that I've a 3.0CDTi and not a 1.9.

I would assume the problem behind it would be the same, if not similar?

I had the intake-manifold replaced under warranty a while ago, as I saw it was leaking in the same manner as your Vaux-Man-G. I was thinking that since there was a leakage there, it would affect the power as pressure in the intake (generated by the turbo) would leak out.
Intake replaced, and new one does not leak. So far so good.

Still felt some problems with low power at low rev's.........Typically under 2k. Then cleaned my EGR (not completely clogged, but had severe amounts of soot) and inserted a new flow-limitation gasket, cleaned the BoostSensor (it was really durty!!) and also the MAF-sensor got a clean. All is good now and has been for the last 8 months. That did the trick for my Veccy.
