    Default Greetings all

Thought I'd drop a quick hello now to everyone.

Doing something I wished to god I'd done a year and a half ago before I bought my Focus ST170 - check out the owners clubs! I've been behind the wheel of a Ford for nearly 6 years now and fancy a change. I've just bought a new house so need a car that does a bit more than the rather poor 28mpg my ST is averaging. Been to look at a Vectra SRi CDTi 150 today and I rather like it. Lovely looking car, nice spec, 55 plate, 4000 miles all for £12,199 (main dealer price too).

Going for a test drive later in the week and wondered if there is any advice about this car anyone could offer? - things to look out for, known faults etc or just any general comments from current owners. Is there much difference between the 120 and 150bhp models? The sales chappy said he preferred the 120 as was not as violent when the boost kicks in. Hmmm decisions....

    Cheers

    Paul

    matey.

Go for the 150 as the 120 is only an 8 valve engine but the 150 is 16v and goes pretty well too.

    Hi, welcome to the site

I have the 1.9 CDTi 150 and can recommend it, I don't do a lot of motorway miles, mostly in the town, and get just under 600 miles from a tank

if you want a bit more power you can get a tuning box for a very reasonable price, which will give you 185-190bhp!

    Welcome to the site Skinny

I currently own the 150 but i had the 120 for 2 months, the 120 is a good engine and possibly more refined than the 150 but it really lacks the grunt. I found the consumption was poorer in the 120 possibly due to the engine working alot harder. Given the choice of the 2 i would go for the 150 everytime

Buy it matey. I have a 150 CDTi SRi and it is ace. I get well over 500 miles to the tank and am happy with the prformance. I have been a Ford man for twenty years, Cossies and RS's all the way, but I am glad I changed camps.

    Hi again

Thanks for the swift and warm welcomes

600 miles per tank - slightly more than my current 280

I do a mixture of urban driving and short hops up and down dual carrage ways so hope to get similar consumption, maybe a little more....

Been reading a fair few posts on the forums and can honestly say I'm really looking forward to the test drive now - I haven't driven an oil burner for over 7 years (not since my pathetic 309 non turbo diesel)

I do like my Focus but had a lot of trouble with a local dealer trying to get her running right (8 returns in 6 months). She flies now but you have to work the box like a dog to keep her going. Too lazy now, I just wanna mash the loud pedal and go - after reading some posts (including the tuning ones ) I don't think I'm going to be disappointed.....
