    Default Changing the thermostat on a cdti 120 8 v....

    Well the temp on my car was only getting to 76 at the highest even after 260 mile trip......So put it down to the thermostat, picked up the new 1 from the dealers Ģ41.25 +vat...Thermostat moddifide slightly, but it was the correct 1....So set to change it looked on here for a how 2....The 8v set up is totaly diierent to the 16 v......It was a night mare!!!!!! It took about 4hrs to change, if any 1 wonts a how to doin for this engine i will.....But any way got it done now the temp is readin about 86 ish all the time, takes a while to warm up 15 mins but think thats because off the outside temp........

    "nitemare "understatement of the year,love to hear how you got past the bracket that holds the heat exchanger on,i resorted to a hacksaw and cut the bracket off,its doing nothing anyways,must admit its nice to see the temp stay put at last at 87 ,another job thats about 50 times harder than the 16v model is glowplugs,another clever chappy at vauxall i think on there location

    Hello m8, i removed the bolt from the front bracket, removed both clamps on the heat exchanger,removed both bolts at the rear (which secures it to the head n block) and had just enough room to get the thermostat out.....and replaced everything, no hacksaw........
