Default OEM Parts VS Third party parts

I got quoted £40 for a pair or rear discs for my 2002 1.8 petrol veccy. I read somewhere that the Vx price for originals is around £100 odd. Whats the difference between different makes, if any. I know that filters, plugs, pads etc are also available third party.

Whats the general opinion on this? Are third party parts ok to use? Is there a difference in quality? and what other parts are available?

all i can say is that VX do a kit that includes 2 soild or vented rear disc's and a new set of pads for £44+vat trade..

I think they were having you on at £100 just for disc's..

Andrewsri has had both the front and rear done with genuine parts for £44+vat per axle.. only downside is having to fit them yourself, which isn't a major task if your handy..

Maybe taking the pi**, but that seems to be the price! I rang my dealer to determine if the GSi calipers were different to mine (which they are) and thought I may as well price up the discs. They quoted £100 odd pound for the pair. I know you mentioned the trade club price at PVS, but I was just curious what the Vx retail price is. The answer is bl**dy outrageous!! lol

I think the deal is off at the moment, my Omega needed frisbie'ing all round, when I rang they quoted me astro money as well, I know at one time £60 would have got 4 discs and pads for my B Vectra.

Deal is still on.. VX has a trade club special on at the mo, whereby all disc and pad sets are £44+vat.. only the applications are different..

So, find a trade club member and you save a packet..

D, you want GSi disc's and pads.. you know what to do..

And very nice they are too! Fitted by my mate who's ex Vx, still working out the bill!

Make sure you have the right tools if you do it yourself though, a torx style socket set and caliper winders are a must! And plenty of WD40!
