    Default r.t.c advice

hi i recieved a letter from the police that i have been involved in a failed to stop/rtc in my car
the thing is i honestly have not been involved in an accident,i have to attend a police station soon where i will find out what it is about.i have no damage to my car so i am lost as to what it could be?
could somwone be makinng a claim against me and do you think i will get points on my licence for the failed to stop? if they agree that i genuinely didint reslise i maybe did cause a crash will i get points?
does an rtc mean also that i maybe might of caused a crash wiithout actually making contact with another car?
    help thanx

just go to the police station and see what they have to say, your car could have even been near the scene of a crash and they just want to know if you saw anything. if you haven't done anything then you have nothing to woory about mate.

rtc = road traffic collision - as above attend the station - they can fill in the blanks and hopefully resolve the issue - theres nothing to say that the person took down the registration wrong and even with a couple of transposed digits it could still be the same make/model/colour vehicle

does the letter state the date and time of the incident = can you remember what you were doing and where you were ??

    keep us posted -

Had a similar problem, however someone had took the registration number down incorrect

Just attend the Police Station and they will tell you what's what. If they gave you an idea of what date it alledgely happened try and remeber where you were etc.

As above- if you have done nothing you have nothing to worry about

Or, a more worrying scenario, someone's cloned your motor and is running round with the same plates as you. Has happened in the past.

    !

    Been there myself mate!
Someone had copied the plates on one of my dads older cars and used it in a robbery at a cash and carry. Luckily, they had CCTV snapshots which clearly showed it was neither myself nor my father!

So dont worry too much mate, if your clean and your car is then its obviosuly someone up to no good!

It could also be that an accident happened as a result of someone else's driving and that person drove off....... so wrong plate OR you just happened to be in the area at the time.
