Default Too much Stress at Work

Too much stress at work -

Boss always piling more and more work on - endless criticism from HQ which is overseas.

Cup is overflowing - yet more gets poured in to do.

    People are not delivering ....

Location is good - money is good ...

Working 70+ hours a week plus working at home on BlackBerry and at weekends - hardly see the family .... nearly got dispatched overseas tomorrow until christmas eve with no consideration to family ... Not Good.

The culture of the company is BAD

Now, started feeling tightness in my chest and getting worried .... I'm not even 40 yet

    quit now!!!
    you'll get another job mate.

    really not worth it.

Or just discuss it with your boss if he's a reasonable man.

Well, that all sounds depressingly familiar.

Be prudent with your spending, don't top-up pension pots any more than you have to but put all the money you can into long-term ISA investments - then retire early, once the mortgage is paid off it's surprising how little you can live on.

I took the plunge and retired at 52 - best decision I ever made in my whole life - my only concern over the intervening years was whether our savings would be too depleted before state pension kicked in, an unneccessary worry as it happens - I can still afford to run a petrol gas-guzzler so all's right with the world!

Apart from the overseas bit, you sound like a teacher in a secondary school.

Seriously, get out or slow down or you may not see 2010. Charity begins at home, go see a doctor ASAP about the chest pains.

As said mate go see a doc and try have a word with your boss should be your first steps. I work in Health and Safety and your company H&S rep, advisor, manager etc should be able to give you some info on stress management and point you in the right direction with some help. Well done on admitting it, that in itself is not an easy thing to do.
