Default 1.9CDTI Flex Pipe and Cat

Well my car had been suffering a slight dip in performance and after the em light last week, and checking the manifold I woas satisfied that the usual suspects were not to blame.

But when I met John.Robertson last Saturday he point out the smoke fumes that spewed out from under the car near the driver's door. Today I got the car instpected at a local garage and the flex pipe has a puncture in it.

The guy says apparently that this flex pipe and cat are the one item and so I need a replacement cat and I am staring at least a couple of hundred for this

Take the cat out alltogether and have a straight bit of pipe put in.

Guys talking out of his back passage, go to a custom exhaust guy, he'll make up a shiney decat pipe with a new flexi for a fraction of the cost of a new cat

Shouldn't cause problems but if you aren't sure about de-catting then a custom place will be able to replace the flexi on its own

As already said, diesels don't need a cat as their emmissions test is a soot test, not a gas anaylisis as such.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
