    Default Can anyone help?

I was driving home tonight after filling the car up for the drive to pickering tomorrow, when i hot a slightly bumpy bit of road. All of a sudden there was a very loud knocking noise coming from the drivers side, somewhere around the rear wheel arch by the sounds of it. Sounds like something has come loose and is knocking against something else.

From then on, all the way home, the noise was constant even on the fairly smooth roads, and i can even hear it over the stereo.

Just wondering if you guys have had the same problem and what you think it might be. Took my dad out in it and he could hear it as well.

Might have to be a trip to the dreaded stealers......actually the one i use in East Hull isnt too bad since i used to work there.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    cheers guys.

Dont think it could be that, wasnt a really bumpy road, just like a country road, but no pot holes.

Had a quick look in the arch when got home and everything seems fine, but then took my dad out in it and noise was still there.

    But thanks anyway david.

Something silly to check, the rear seatbelt, if it hasn't recoiled properly it can thump against the door panel, prolly isn't that, but it will take seconds to check, keep me fingers crossed for you that it is that though, nice cheap fix eh?

whilst they're looking at the Damper, get them to check the anti-roll bar's tierod link..if that fails it also bangs like a nutter, even on 'smooth' surfaces..

UPDATE - Took the car to the stealers today and the mechanic went out for a drive in it. Came back 10 mins later and had it up on his ramp for 30 mins.

Service lass came to me and said "Mr Welsh, weve found the problem and its a Broken front suspension spring"

To which i said, "but it didnt feel any different and it sounded like the noise was coming from the back, but anyway is it covered under warrenty?

She says "yes they have agreed to pay for it (costs about £80 i think) but its not really drivable in the condition its in"

so to cut a long story short i asked for a courtasy car, thinking id get a corsa 1.0, but they refused and said its not possible because of my age (18). So had to get my dad to pick me up and take me back again tomorrow, but hopefully it will be fixed.

Thanks again to everyone for your help.
