Default What is Back Pressure ??

Ok, so when people talk about back pressure from exhausts, what do they actually mean ?

I understand, different exhausts will alter the back pressure, so for example will back pressure
become lower after fitting a dual exit to a 1.9 CDTi 150 as there is 2 exits ??

And can back pressure cause damage ???

    Thanks lol !!

can only imagine it is the pressure drop created when there is changes in the exhausts diameter - for example at the cat, and boxes.

When a 'flow' meets an edge it will create a pressure drop.

Of course there is the upside that on a turbo, the turbo will spool up quicker due to not having to force air as much

Yep, and it won't do any harm. If you look in the how 2s Maverick fitted and extra backbox to a 1.9cdti
