I have a problem with my 58 Vectra 1.8 VVT Exlusiv. The steering wheel has slight free-play when in motion and stationary. Also, the SW start to vibrates when I drive above 70 mph, and the car pulls to the left. I took it yesterday to the VX dealership and they did a wheel balancing and tracking. I have been assured that this has solved the problem, for which I paid 56 quid. Driving this morning I noticed the same problems as before, so I took the car back to VX to check again. On the second inspection they said that the play in the steering wheel doesn't look normal. They have decided to change the whole steering rack under warranty, but it will take couple of days. Also, this will involve stripping the whole front, removing the engine, etc.
So, Im just wandering does any one here been in the same situation? Is that the real problem? I'm just a bit worried about the disassembling bit.
