    Unhappy And it goes on...

Well as you may be aware, my gearbox broke a few weeks ago so i ordered a replacement that came within a week. My car was stuck in a garage that couldnt help me so when i tried to get it home, the rac(who im a member of) said no as its in a garage and would charge me, the aa (who a friend is a member of) considered the car unrecoverable as it was too low to get on a loading lorry, and greenflag wanted to charge me up to £250 for "special" recovery. I ended up PAYING for rac to recover it.

A friend offered to fit the gearbox for me but when it came down to it i was let down so another friend said he would help. He came round to sort it only to find that he is unable to do it as he doesnt have the right equipment. Now it has gone in a garage with a friend of a friend and begins a lengthy private repair job. Due to current work loads, im looking to get my car back end of january beging of february work has started only to find the clutch needs to be done as well!

So all in all, im not very happy lol and the repair bill keeps mounting up! so far...

    Refurb Gearbox £400
    Recovery Costs ~£100
    New clutch £70 (Trade discount)
    Labour from £200

So far it has cost me nearly £800! i know i have been well sorted with the prices and it pays to know people but this is costing me a fortune, money which was going to be on xmas. Not this year lol Luckily i have access to 4 other cars from my family and also a friend kindly offered to lend me her car when shes not using it.

The thing that makes it slightly worse is that i was planning a 6 speed upgrade sometime next year, i was going to do it now but was getting silly quotes for the gearbox. If i can get a good price next year, it will be done/

Ah well... cant do much about it now so, roll on february!

I agree but as its private its in his own time and when he can use a ramp at work. Unfortunately he is quite busy at the moment, loads of mots, thats why it will take so long. On a good note, at least its not all in 1 hit on the wallet

No box isnt out yet. I was told it will need a new clutch as the box has gone. tbh i wanted to renew the clutch anyway as the car is on 90k miles now. i know its a long time to get it sorted but its not like i dont have another car to use. Also i dont have £800 in 1 hit, £400 was bad enough this side of xmas

know where your coming from mate..it would be false economy not to do the clutch while the box was out anyways..well hope you get it back soon
