Not accidentally removed some of the wiring from the control panel and put it back in the wrong place ??

Did this the other week with the dish washer (serves me right for fixing the dishwasher at 10 pm after a couple of stella's .

That will be the thermostat cutting itself out so that its doesn`t catch fire.
Take the back off to the thermostat and heating element and you should see the one or two thermostats about the size of a one pence piece.
One of them will have tripped and instead of being convexed(curved outwards) in will be concaved (curved inwards) or popped in,in simple words. Take it off and hold about 1 foot from a hard surface and throw at the floor, this will pop it back out and bobs your uncle, put back together and that will work.

    I like it

Carefully remove thermal safety device and lob it at floor, replace and test, if it still insists on preventing house fire, remove offending device and repeat the first step until a state of mutual compliance is reached..... You have now repaired your appliance

Reminds me of the unofficial ink jet printer repair guide

It does actually repair it as it only trips because the belt snapped which will stop the air passing aroud the machine so it gets too hot and trips, its not a bodge just to get it working again,it is safe to do but i obviously recommend that you buy a new unit at £50 and then pay a experienced electrician to do the work, even though he will do the same trick i use and then sell the new unit on ebay

Fair play,a nice simple and cheap fix.

Worth remembering the old thermostat trick though as its alot cheaper than a sparky to come do it
