Help! - Fault Code Reader Needed!

Does anyone have a fault code reader that i could use, have an engine light and car is misfiring, need to get to the bottom asap but don't want to go to the stealers... I live in gloucestershire, but i can travel, any help would be appreciated as the brake/acc pedal technique doesn't work for me (2.2 direct petrol) - thankyou.

Get an RAC code reader from Argos, use it and take it back, cos it didn't work with your car
