Autobalm works well, not that easy to use but v good results on black cars (hides all the 'white-looking' scratch marks that get created in the lacquer).

Autoglym Super Resin Polish or Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine are both pretty good to start with, available at your local Halfrauds.

I use Super Resin Polish then some Extra Gloss Protection. I also like to give a few coats of MEGUIARS NXT Generation Spray Wax after each wash when I have the time.

I like to use Collinite 915 as it lasts for ages and works well on black but I have just bought a tub of Chemical Guys Petes 53 Black Pearl, this is highly recommended by Stevel and his car is mint. Also before a wax try putting on Poorboys Blackhole Glaze as it too works wonders on black.
Lump is a good guy to talk to on detailing etc as its his job, and for buying goods just use Autobrite who is a trader on here and sells just about everything you could ever want in the detailing scene.

    Default Polish for black cars

The best combination I have found for Black are these products.

Sonus paint cleanser- depending how dirty/faded paint work is

poor boys black hole glazex 2 coats

poor boys EXP sealant x2 coats

then a coat of colinite 976s carnauba wax.

For a look at the result look at my prevoius post " cleaned and polished and waxed" or here

    Enjoy your car

being new to detailing is an awful place to be as there are that many products to buy any recomendation might not be the best for u, and when u say detailing 90% of the finish is achieved with good technique and preperation then 10% product.
for polishing by hand auto glym super resin polish is a cracker, followed by auto glym extra gloss protection then some collinite 916 marque d'elegance.
for machine polishing i would need to see the car to decide. but remember a polish is only a polish.
