Default Using 'Genuine GM paint spray'

Bought a brand new wing mirror from Vauxhall's Lookers last week for £130, come out to me and its in black (colour of the plastic), so I said the colour I need is Silver Lightning, ''sorry you have to paint it yourself or we can do it for £50''...for £130 you'd think you'd get the colour with it.

So paid another £10 for Silver Lightning GM Genuine paint spray & the lacquer that comes with it. Need to paint the whole wing mirror to match the drivers side...anyone used this spray before? Never spray painted/lacquered in my life so a bit wary. Thanks.

i would have let them do it for 50 quid - it isnt easy whatsoever. you wont get a decent finish with rattle cans in my opinion.

£50 is a joke though for a little wing mirror. £130 for the wing mirror is a joke too.

take it back for refund and buy second hand... or live with black for a bit till a silver lightning cover pops up on ebay...

You can get a good finsh with cans if prepare it properly and take your time...

I always use Halfords rattle cans as the colour match is very very good and they spray nice. I havent had any issues using cans and I have painted front splitters, rear bumpers defusers and VXR exhaust bumper trims in Saphire Black, and black is the worst colour to match in colour and finish.

Dont think they'll give me a refund as Ive put it alltogether now, i'll try but if not im gonna have a go myself, if it go's wrong I can always get a cover for it. Any tips? or 'how to' threads on the subject?

Build up the layers of primer slowly, lightly sand inbetween coats. apply colour again very finely and again build up in a few layers. if not got an even finish i use 1500grit wet and dry. then clear coat it...

If spraying it soon (in this weather) you want to be somewhere warmish and dust free as cold air can affect finish...
