Is it any easier / cheaper to do than the normal cam belt?
Is changing the water pump any easier as its not on the cam belt?

Anyone?
No but I'm interested - I should do mine, its only done about 20k but i swapped the n
engine and i think the one i put in had sat unrun for ages....
water pump is external and i would say dont need replaceing .....plus you only really need todo the cam belt on the 18xer the rollers apear to be good on these engines ...
i need to do my 1.8 non vvt soon. im asuming that they are essentially the same in this respect?
I'm not sure it is the cam pullies that do the variable timing, so i should think this would be one area it would be different!!
the 1.8 xer (vvt) is totally different to the earlier z18xe ....the early engine needs a cam belt kit fitting and a water pump beeing as it is driven via the cambelt ....
