    Default Hi all

I am back form taking Larisa to Edinburgh, What a brilliant city, so much to do and see, we must have walked many miles and took hundreds of photos. The one thing that I noticed was the scotish people we meet and spoke to were very friendly and polite, not like round Birmingham, even the drivers would let you pull out, correct me if I am wrong though, but it was the first impretion I got of them, we can not wait to go back, The PVS seems history now, but it went so fast, sorry if I did not have chance to talk to you all, but I hope to see you all again in the future.

Did your wallet take a hammering this time as well Ed?

Edinburgh is a cracking city - and as you say the folk are very friendly! But then, you'll find that with all Scots!

    Hi Duncan.
My wallet took a right old battering, so did the credit card, tell you what though the scotish are a canny bunch, the kept giving me chance from a £20 in their scotish money, so I would spend that rathere than bring back their "funny money".

Well what can I say, our 'funny money' just happens to be our money we use! As for the reluctance of those south of the borders refusing to accept it and look at you as if you were trying to use dollars from planet zong to pay for stuff, well, ridiculous. Most English people I meet agree with that so I don't know who causes the problem!

Gotta agree with that David. After trips up to see family/relatives in Scotland I've ended up with some Scottish notes. I've had places in England refuse to take them as they say they aren't legal tender in England - which is complete and utter bollox!! Just shows you the ignorance of some people!

The notes say STERLING - what else can I say? At the airport alot of English people ask to exchange their notes for English ones before they go home, and I gladly do for them, because its not them its their shops and such like that will give them hassle about it when hey get home. And they always say to me how they don't understand it either!

Not that we would because we're all too nice, but I can only try and imagine if Scotland started refusing English notes on account of them being Bank of England, anyone think how that would turn out?

I dont think its English ppl myself, rather the nature of the money that does it, as a cabbie I often encounter foreign (LMAO) money, the trouble I find with Scottish money is this, there are too many variations of it, you have Bank of Scotland,Clydesdale Bank and another one that slips me if I remember correctly, add this to the Irish tenner I took and couldn't spend anyway because the shops had been caught out with money that wasn't worth the same as it's equivelent here, I got rid of it in the end, funny thing I checked it on the text and it was infact worth a quid more than a tenner, I'm all in favour of a national note myself featuring the national icons in a logo together rather than Lizzies head, not that I dont like the Queen cos I do, but it would have ppl campaigning for Robert the Bruce to be on the notes 5 mins later

I ment it in a funny way, it is not my point of view, I quite like the scotish money, but there is a very blinkered attitude in england almost an ignorent point of view towards scotish money, I have had scotish money before and tried to spent it and have been told by "the ignorant individual" I am not taking that. just because they have never seen it before they think it is not legal tender. Tell you what give me a million pounds in scotish money and I will be just as happy as if it was english....
