    Default induction kit noise problems

    I need help , i have a 1.8 sri vectra c face lift. i tried fittin a induction kit just to test it out and it has not gone well at all , the noise is god awful sounds like a old tractor dragin chains at low revs on the move, but parked up revs sounds great . i must confess it was a cheep induction kit from halfrods, would a more expencive give me the desired note im lookin for, i would love some input on what to do for the best really please help..

    Ive heard people saying that some engines dont respond well to induction kits. Have you reset it so the ecu can sort itself out to the new airflow?

    Im sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortly however

    The modern Ecotecs don't like them mate. If you want an induction kit get a sealed type like the Piper Viper or just put a K&N panel filter in the stock de-restricted air box.

    How much difference would a k&n panel filter make noise wise? I know have any real performance gains

    None and a few bhp, 2-3 at most really.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Oh i the bhp i couldnt care less about wont be able to notice it at all.
    Just wanted to know if it would sound any different, thats a dissapointment then lol

    panel filter wont make no noise..Just induction kit that will..Sealed kits sound awesome..but every other one makes it sound chavvy

    Not being funny, but its probably not worth spending the money on a closed induction kit for the 1.8, a well maintained engine will run better than one that is not with k&n filters etc fitted.....

    What about a 2.2direct? Or is it just not worth it? I miss the sound of my old motor

    To be brutally honest thats the only real noticeable thing you will get from an induction kit on a n/a car - noise, so if you can warrant the cost for noise, then go for it I say
