I got a can bus stereo for my half can bus Signum.
Stereo connections are wrong for a start (main plug etc)
Plus the can bus stereo forms part of the immobiliser and alarm system on the can bus car.
Probably possible but is it really worth the hassle?

One of the guys on here has fitted a CD70 into a cavalier, so quite possible. Have a search for posts from Robsey.

Yes it is possible to do, if you are quite adventurous...or in my case mad.

As said above, I fitted a full can CD70 Navi and Graphic Info screen to my non-can cavalier mk3.

You will need an ISO2CAR loom, or SOT lead with the quadlock and ISO plugs on it.
You will need the screen plug also.
To get my lights and temperature read-out working, I also had to get a scrap light switch unit and a body control module. The unit is standalone from the majority of the cavalier's systems, therefore I don't have a board computer function.

Bear with me a second, and I will find my full thread on the Mk3 Cavalier Owners Forum, which discusses this in great detail.

Yes can be done...you will still need the ISO2CAR or SOT lead, but not all the light switch and BCM bits, as your car will have these.

You will need different wheel controls and possibly need to change / reprogram your CIM module.
The BCM from a half can car works fine with the CD70...that's what mine is.

Another query relates to the airbag circuit...it is believed that there are some possible issues with a half can airbag system and a full can CD70. (Bigmac advises that this issue has been discussed on the german equivalent of this site).

If in any doubt, I would suggest leaving the low speed can wire on pin 25 of the display disconnected. This wire links the airbag circuit to the display check control circuit.

Facia wise, it is just plug and play...do watch out for facelift colour screens, as some are of the wide screen variety, and this will entail some fettling of a facelift surround to fit it to a pre-facelift dashboard.

The majority of the work is just making up the conversion loom.

    Mechanically there are no issues.

Electrically...the more functions you want, then the more complex it becomes!!

Although if you are happy to stay away from wheel controls and airbag wiring, then it is not too bad at all to do.

The tricky / fiddly bit is fitting the sat nav aerial...especially as space is tight to feed the block into the speaker hole in the top of the dash.

Just follow any of my threads, either here or on Cav3 owners Club forum...there are bags of pictures and wiring diagrams available.
