Dare I say this, but I'm contemplating trading in my beloved GSi, for a 1.9 CDTi....or maybe a 3.0 V6(!?)
Oooh, I think there's gonna be a reaction from some peeps on this one but my heart says keep the ol' girl and my head says get the diesel.
Basically, my wife is on maternity leave with our second daughter (1st daughter is 2.5 years and the other is 7 months).
Now, I'm trying to get everything in place whereby my wife has the opportunity to stay at home rather than go back to work. I've cut down just about every expense possible and the only thing left considering now is changing the car!
I only do about 6000miles PA which is nothing really, however 95+% of the journeys we do in the car are 'to the shops and back' and so the average mpg I get is around 22mpg. I can easily get 36mpg on a run on the motorway which is pretty good, however by going over to a 1.9 (150) I've made a best guess and worked out that I'll save around £40pcm. - Not a massive amount but it all adds up! - Of course it'll be cheaper car insurance and road tax too!
Ok, I'm trying to get an idea of how many miles I'll get out of a tank of fuel.
The trip computer in my car is weird. We all have 13.1 gallon tanks. Yet filling my car to the brim to when the MFD screen shows the 'low fuel' coming on (range 32miles), the 'fuel used' reads around about 9.5 gallons - meaning there should be about another 3.5 gallons left (77 miles)!!!! Then when filling the tank up takes about 44 litres (around 9.5 gallons). My car is also set up for GB Gallons too.
QUESTION - to all (especially 3.2 V6, 1.9 (150's) and 3.0 V6 CDTi's)
I reset my MFD settings each time I refill.
1. How many gallons does your car state it's used from a FULL tank, to when the low fuel screen is displayed?
2 Also, how many miles to a tank can I expect for a 1.9 150 and 3.0 V6 CDTi for mainly STEADY urban driving?
Looking at other threads, I reckon the mpg are as follows (please correct if I'm wrong!!!!)
3.0 V6 CDTi
Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading!!!!
