    Default 1.9 CDTi brakes

I'm going to be changing my discs and pads shortly, but I can't decide what to replace them with -

    1. Do I put standard 1.9 CDTi brakes back on (don't know what size they are)
    2. Do I upgrade to 3.0 CDTi brakes on (again dont know size or price)
    3. Do I upgrade to the LMF 314mm setup for £319.00 (front axle only)
    4. As above but for an extra £30 get the drilled discs

    decisions decisions. Opinions please peeps.

The LMF deal sounds quite reasonable, so for looks alone I'd go for option 4

For show, The Drilled ones. For practicality the 1.9 CDTI ones and for a bit more confidence the 3.0 CDTI (Assume they're bigger).

Though saying that, will the drilled ones be visible through the spokes of your alloys?

My problem is I've reached the limits on the standard 1.9 brakes a few times now.

The 3.0 CDTi brakes are definately bigger than the 1.9's. I think they are the same as the GSi's. So if I'm going to go for these do you think it would be worth upgrading further to the LMF big brake conversion?

Forgot about your extra power... forget 1.9s then. Don't know the specs or prices of the 3.0 compard to LMFs option.

If your worried about the stopping power, correct me here if I'm wrong, but don't drilled discs increase the stopping distance?

Yes mate I think they do. But I'm not sure if they're worth the extra dollar?

I am seriously considering going the LMF route as I think my discs are warped and they don't give me a lot of confidence. Considering this is for calipers, discs and pads all for £319 - Bargain!

So definately option 3, not sure what benefit drilled discs give over standard, but £30 quid ain't too much on top.

Let us know how you get on and you may persuade me to go the same route.

Are you sure it is calipers as well?

The calipers look identical and the only thing that I would say is the bracket is bigger? To cope with the bigger discs and pads.

I know what you mean on limits. Mine is in today getting new pads and discs under warranty (NetworkQ).

I am going to go for a better brake kit though, I personally don't like single pot calipers.

Your front discs will be 285mm, 3.0CDTi/3.2 are 314mm.

I'm looking at doing the same. My pads are due for renewal and I'm looking to change from my 302mm fronts to the 314mm discs. The ones that veedubjoe is selling.

What I need to find out is if I also need the different calipers, or whether they are the same ones and just a longer mounting bracket.
