spanner and car orange light on 3.0 v6 cdti

this light has started coming up in my car betwen the rev and mph clocks some times it goes away but other times it just stays on. the car seems to be running fine and i dont know whats wrong. any ides guys... and also on another note a knocking noise going over bumps in the road this also comes and goes to, would this be the a broken spring that i have hread about on other fourms?

knocking from the front does hint at a broken spring.

knocking from the rear could be one of the suspension linkages.

spanner light suggests that a fault has been logged!! or is present.
there are a few faults common on the v6 cdti, which are well documented on the site.

a fellow sufferer will be along soon to advise.

You need to get the codes read. This will then give you some idea of what the problem is. It's probably a sensor that's playing up, but there are may other faults that are common to the v6 diesel.

the knicking could also be a bush worn, rad mounts, anti roll bar drop links....... you need to have a look and not guess.

See your handbook; pages 30, 55, and 166
This is most likely to be a fault in the fuel system
Is the car under warranty?
Do you notice any loss of power, juddering, or hesitation?

knocking noise going over bumps in the road

I had this and it was found to be the bumper undertray knocking against the bumper
The clips were replaced, but it made no difference

no sadly its out of warranty, must look at that undertray cause i has the bumpers just painted so that mite be it the undertray. what did you do then went the new clips didnt work on the under tray?

Remove the undertray! Its only there as they are so damn noisy.

Removing the undertray also helps with cooling the engine oil which the 3.0 CDTi desperately needs if driven hard

So it dosen't make turbulence/ ruin the airodynamics under the car if you remove it?
