was going to book my car in at maltings transmissions(bailiff bridge) next week
where I was quoted £677 for dmf and complete clutch fitted ....I thought, but when I spoke to someone there and he asked what car it is(150 sri) was annoyed and perturbed(spelling) at the fact that in his words"the only sri vauxhall make is the 2.0 petrol"........so after a brief argument I put the phone down and thought NO....I can't trust these people with my pride and joy

So started to search and ring round, came across a company called C&G motorsport who make performance clutches to order! rang them this morning and spoke to a very knowledgeable guy called Mick,

Backtracking slightly a couple of weeks ago a member on here said you can get a conversion kit for the CDTI.....I said this member was wrong- nobody does them........I appologise as he was correct.

They however did not recommend it to me as gearboxes have been failing after time due to the torque, he did however give me some options.

    1 - dual mass + uprated 5 paddle clutch kit fitted £780
    or
    2 - conversion kit + clutch £650
    or
3-dual mass and standard clutch fitted £590

apparently these use LUK clutches-remove friction material, replace with ceramic or kevlar and uprate plate.......at mo can't decide to uprate or standard........you guys any thoughts
    thanks Andy

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the clutches.
where you say the 5 paddle one will be more aggressive cant be much than the standard clutch - i never mentioned anything about slipping - had a veiw vx and none of them were slipping. The clutch is just not driver friendly - and to me thats poor.

I would just put a standard one back in, can't see the point in uprating a clutch at all. On removal of mine after 100k miles there was hardly any wear and certainly wasn't slipping and don't know what is meant by not a driver friendly clutch!

APOLOGY ACCEPTED on the conversion kit

So did he say that the gearboxes just die from the torque, or do they die mostly if you have upgraded the power from the engine?

I was thinking about the conversion kit but think I might just replace the standard for another standard?

Be interested in a group buy though
