    Default Tech 2

    Re a thread that I posted recently, I will be
    changing tyres on my from 215/50-17 to 225/45-17.
    Does anyone have access to a tech 2 to calibrate the ecu
    for me.

    Many thanks.

    Those tyres are the same rolling radius.... why would think you would need to calibrate the ecu????

    215 = Width in mm's
    50 = Aspect ratio (side wall height) of 75% of the width
    17 = You take a guess.

    They're not.

    There is a marginal difference between the 215/50/17 & 225/45/17 size.

    Plug the sizes into any tyre calulator and you'll see the difference.

    Since fitting 225/45/17's on th front of my Vectra, my speedo now reads slightly more than it did previously when 215/50/17's were fitted.

    When I asked the garage to change the settings via Tech2, they told me the setting is the same for both sizes of tyre. Someone on here said it's not though (possibly Plasma, but could be wrong).

    Don’t forget, just because you change tyres doesn’t mean your speedo will be ‘out’; it might be ‘out’ with the 215’s and putting the 225’s on makes it go more ‘in’ ?!?!

    Do a test – stick cruise on at 70mph and see what speed a sat nav is telling you (CD70 can tell you speed in test mode).

    Also don’t forget as tyres wear, their circumference reduces.

    Does CD70 use speed from the same sensors and tyre size data that speedo works from, if so, it will only show up speedo inaccuracies. Sat Nav will be much better to get accurate road speed. Or is CD70 a sat nav system???
