    Default Expensive Morning

Had a broken window wiper, so took it into Vauxhall and asked them to look at the tyres, brakes and they do there normal check around as well. From a broken window wiper walked out with a bill of £738.00, and not all the work done.

Had to have two new tyres one had a small slah on the inside wall and the other had a few mm tread left on it so got both fronts done. Rear brake pads were 80% worn. Two oil leaks one from drive shaft which could leak into the gearbox so got that done, and the wiper motor and linkage was ****** £300 . The other oil leak is on the camshaft i believe but he said that'll be ok for now, so booked it in again for a small service and fix the remaining leak In January.

Was suprised had the car just over 3 months not heavily used, the dealer (non Vauxhall) said they inspected it all in perfect working order its 06 with only 17k on the clock so was a bit fuming. On the bright side they saved me cleaning it and further possible major faults like the gearbox down the line.

Well you probably only needed the linkage so that would have saved £90 (there is a mistake on tis/epc that states you need to change both bits) fitted it yourself in 30 mins to theres another saving! Never get your tyres done at a main dealer as they charge a fortune.

SHOP AROUND! I think you could have saved loads from that bill!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I'm pretty sure the motor was gone in fairness and was charged £64 a tyre for bridgestones so actually thought i did quite well on the tyre front. I actually rang around a few local garages and all of them were saying we're having problems getting indivdual parts so we're have to order in the entire wiper kit. After hearing that thought it would be better to go to vauxhall.

    I'll be short and sweet.

IMO you could have saved money on that bill.

I really don't understand how a drive shaft leak can leak into the gearbox....

Not a bad price for the tyres, although if the motor was gone why change the linkage? £300 is a lot of money for that!
