    Default mpg???

    its it just me or is this about right my 1.8 vvti seems to be drinkin fuel some time i get bout 160 mile out of 20quid and sometimes 130 and then drivin like a slug if i give it some the i can see dial drop are they all like this? my old 02 plate 1.8 dint seem this way.. could it be the 19 inch snowflakes pulling it down? and its not really sharp either?

    I was going to post a similar question.

    My mpg seems to have dropped a fair bit too in the last week or so....

    I put it down to the cold weather, and that fact the more of the car's electrics are in use.

    Has anyone else noticed their mpg drop, and agree / disagree with the above?

    i did have a cone filter on but i took it off due to when the cold weather came it got worse. but it has always seemed to be heavy on fuel.

    i recently hired a insignia with the 1.8 engine and i found it to be worse on fuel than the standard 2.0 turbo

    Cold air is more dense, so it will use more fuel, although probably not as much as you say on its own. The 19's will probably make a difference too.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    I'm struggling to get 50 miles out of a tenner in my 2.2 16v, which is about 25 MPG or less. The book says I should be getting about 33 MPG or so, have never seen this figure in my car! I'm begining to think I should've got a diesel!

    Same here... doing 26 or so at min. i even rarley go over 1500 rpm's too...

    I think use 2 need to do a good clean up of your throttle body and inside the inlet manifold it done mine the world of good
