Better using a engine cleaner like Jizer diluted a bit or the actual K&N cleaner , then you'll need to leave till fully dry and re-oil it. Jetwash wouldnt clean it very good . Leave it soak overnight in a basin

Buy the K&N Cleaner Kit as it comes with the cleaner, new filter oil and full instructions and for a tenner its worth every penny. Its also worth giving the filter a good tap with the dirty side down as loads of muck likes flies etc comes out of them.

Definately do not power wash it as the powerwasher will put holes in the fabric within the filter. If it is really bad use an air line at about 2ft away to blow away most of the crap and then wash it in basin or sink using warm water and a small amout of handwash clothes detergent (bold, daz etc) and let it soak. After soaking and cleaning let it dry and then re-oil it.

Dont drill the box mate... did it on my astra and felt more sluggish, i only did the lower tray part wing side - so the coldest too, had to buy a new box in the end.
