Default is there such a thing as a good ice scrapper?

as the title says,it was minus 4 here this morning and the car was iced up well and truely, tryed to scrape the ice off with one of those petrol station forecourt scrappers and it was just leaving 2 lines in the ice
has anybody got one that actually does a good job getting the ice off? if so where did you get it from?

Keep the edge vertical, then the curve of the windscreen doesn't have any effect - I've use the same scraper for years - the handle fell off which actually makes it easier to keep in the door pocket - the rubber edge gets rid of condensation in warmer weather - no real idea where it came from but it might be from Charlie Browns aka Motorworld.

Dont understand why people dont just use luke warm water? It will only crack the windscreen if you pour boiling water.

Scrapers only serve to put scratched in the windscreen in my experience.

I have found that a good application of Rainex or simular product does help to prevent ice on windows but for Ice scrapers I have one that my sister bought me ages ago and its got its own furry water proof glove and works a treat.

Dry that with a diesel. Takes about 5 miles for my heating to get hot enough to defrost the window.

I find a Homebase card does the job fine.
