Arrow Indicator will not go off

I removed my indicator stalk for cleaning (as my CC stop working) and when I replaced the stalk I put the indicator light on solid (the parking light I think)
Well now the stupid indicator keeps blinking when ever I've got the keys in the ignition.
If I hold down the stalk it will stop flashing, but I can't drive like this! How will i change gear, unless I just turn right all the time
    Help

its a stuck solenoid in the fuse box, you can even get away with tapping it to free the contact and it might be ok. Replace to be on the safe side

Would that account for being able to cancel it by holding down the left turn indicator?

If it was ok before you started tinkering, then it's logical that whatever you've done has caused the problem. Time to strip it down again and double check your work.

I've just stripped the CIM down and swoped the stalk holders over and the problem transfered that mean's it's a mechanical Problem.

Just been down to the scrappy and ripped apart a CIM and now have two new stalk holders for £2
I hope that sorts it all. But my cruise control still doesn't work propperly

Oh yeah I broke it by using too strong a cleaner :/

I now have the same problem, is it a big job to dismantle the CIM?
I looked at a few "how-to's", some say the steering wheel & airbag have to come off, sounds like a big hassle, maybe needing a tech2 to reset the airbag light??

I don't understand how it happened, all I did was remove the stalk, cleaned the contacts, then put it back. The parking light did engage (indicator light on full - three pips, etc), but I can get that to go off, it's the damned indicator flashing all the the time that has me flummoxed.

What sort of sensor controls the indicator on/off circuit, is it just pushed out of position, can I fix it without changing the CIM?
