I got mine done by Autoglass, i paid £10 for them ,

However some insurance companies ask you to Pay £45, so check with Autoglass if your insurance company is one of there approved people

It shouldn't go up BUT... it will go down as a claim and alot of insurance comps won't insure you if you have two or more claims in 3-5 years

Direct Line, (and a few others) are now charging for windscreen repairs.

DL currently charge £10, which you pay to Autoglass.

When I had mine done recently, the repairer said that a couple of insurance companies are now charging £40 to £50 for a repair. He said for that price, you might as well pay another £20 and have the screen replaced.

As said by others, it won't affect your policy premium when it comes to renewal time.

The insurance would rather fix it at a low cost than replace it completely when it fails, so you shouldn't see any affect on your premium.

Not true my friend, it doesn't count as a claim, you won't have to declare it when you shop for quotes come renewal time, and when your existing insurer send you through their renewal quote the windscreen repair won't be showing on it and they'll still list you as not having had any claims.

most people just say , any chance of fixing this mate for cash!!, most only charge a tenner anyway. not ideal but no worries from insurance if it bothers you. pop along to any super market there plagued with them.
