if its not contested and you can sort out the finances yourselves then there is a lot of fixed fee solicitors out there.

I did mine by myself.... Go to your local law courts and get the forms, from memory there are 3 forms. Simply fill them in, get them signed by the wife (assuming no issues), get them signed by a witness and a judge will look at them and if he / she is happy, then you are divorced. I think it cost around £75 in total. It was a sad end to nearly 10years, but at least it was cheap and easy. Funny thing is the ex and me are still best friends......

    Give it a try.

I don't think it will be amicable, it was and now it seems like she's met someone else and I've found she doesn't like it, she's been a real ***** about it, I want the grounds to be adultery but know she won't settle on that

you have to have three or four items that you BOTH agree on for the divorce to move forward -"irreconcilable differences" is no longer accepted as grounds for divorce you will need to list the grounds and both parties would need to agree to them for the court to sign off on the decree nisi then providing no one contests the grounds the absolute would be issued 6 weeks later..
adultery being listed would have to be agreed - if you think she wont then dont list it ... because it will only drag matters on longer and end up costing you more in money and heartache

We're going through it ourselves with Matt's now ex wife and tbh unless you get the ball rolling yourself there is sweet fa you can do. They now been divorced for a few years but because the house is joint they're arguing out the financial settlement, we say arguing we'll be lucky to get a letter back from the solicitors even though we have the extra needed there to give her. But ours has been dragging on for over two years now and I will say don't let it, it will drag you down because there is alot that puts your life on hold. For instance you said you've met someone, if this is still going on and you live together her wages will be taken into a financial settlement among other things.

Doing it yourself is OK if you have no assets but we've been advised that unless you get a 'clean break' order from the court if you are to get an inheritance, win the lottery etc the ex party can still claim for this in years to go.

Always seems to be a factor these days....... Thanks to media/TV people have too high an expectation and an over romanticised view of what marriage should be. Some people can't just settle down and be happy.
The grass always "seems" greener and more exciting, but rarely is.

Sounds like she's now out to hurt you..... She was ok with it, but now isn't? Are third parties getting "involved"?
I've often found that the most damaging thing for any relationship is her friends and the man hating rubbish they tend spout off to eachother. Without doing anything wrong you can suddenly be painted out as the most evil and untrustworthy person alive!

The more people sticking their oar in, the more difficult its going to become.

Surely if adultery can be proven with hard evidence, then that should be fairly reasonable grounds? (ive no idea)

To be fair, she's hardly going to agree to it if she's telling the truth...
