    Default Having Problems

    Evening all,

    Two questions really;

    Clutch has been rattling for about six months when slightly depressed (thats pushed down not its mental state!) Thought nothing of it until tonight when I came across Flywheel threads!!! So my car is still under warranty (until next month) but its a peugeot extended warranty administored by car care plan, as I bought it second hand from a Perry's Peugeot dealer. Anyone had any dealings with them? and are they any good?

    Second one is, if I ring Vauxhall, will they be able to tell me what my car has had done previously under warranty, EGR etc?

    Thanks in advance.

    Karl

    Hi mate, its your Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF), very common and very exensive (£1300 if you go to Vauxhall).

    Get it in and get it sorted as fast as you can under the Warranty

    If it is the flywheel when you get in the car, press the clutch to biting point while car is in neutral, if its the flywheel it will start rattling. Could also be the throughout bearing.

    Get it checked m8 either way there shouldnt be noises coming from the engine when ur clutch is pressed. I have had the DMF issue for three years and if I knew what I know now I could have had vx fix it at their expense .

    More News. Car Care Plan told me I could take it to any garage so I took it to a vauxhall garage. Result; they think its too quiet a rattle to indicate that the flywheel has actually given up the ghost, but its probably "6-12 months away". Hence the warranty company would probably not cover it. But they'd have to strip it to identify the specific problem. Plus, in order to determine the problem, i'd have to authorise the removal of the gearbox and if the warranty company then subsequently wouldn't cover it, i'd be liable to pay to have the gearbox re-fitted, at a cost to me of about £300! I'm banging my head against a wall!!!! Any suggestions?

    To sum up, that's a garage telling you what the warranty company may say, not the warranty company themselves...? Speak to the warranty company directly, see what they say.

    Sorry, i'd spoke to them both directly. Didn't make that clear. The warranty company told me exactly what they told the garage.

    warranty companies, what a waste of time. they said the same thing to me regarding an inlet manifold. Garage took it apart, warranty company said they would not pay. since the car was in bits i paid for the new one myself. 417 quid (fitted)

    Thats why i'm tempted to leave it and just wait for it to take the s**t and die on me. Then put the money towards a non Vauxhall repair in 6 months!
