cdti 150 rattle?

sitting in the car with the car in gear but the clutch down and theres a rattle ?

any ideas?

when u drive its silent and when the car is in neutral its fine as well

oh the car has a dtuk box

Sounds like the flywheel is packing up.

Does it rattle when you press the clutch pedal to biting point whilst in neutral?

i dont think so but not 100%

as far as i know its only when u have selected a gear and depressed the clutch

check that first if its not doing it there, could be the throughout bearing.

As above I would be inclined to think it was the DMF, the thrust bearing would silence when the pedal was pressed.

my mate works for vauxhall just rang him i have had rattle for some time never thought anything about it till i come on tonight, he has said get it straight in while under warranty its duel mass flywheel apparantly a design fault!!!! have only done 32000 miles

32000 miles! You have done well! Just kidding, some DMF's last 000's of miles and some not very long at all.

ok went down to the car and now there are 2 rattles!

when i depress the clutch a little maybe an inch or 2 theres a new rattle!

so it sounds like a dmf is needed?

if u press the clutch halfway in and it rattles its the flywheel, it can survive like this for ages tho, its not gonna pack up on u straight away but if your car is under warranty take it into them right away
