Default TOPGEAR V's MORRIS MARINA & CARAVAN & VAUXHALL

Oh! How do the Topgear team get their ideas? This is excellent viewing on telly on sunday nights and what's more I own three of the most hated things on topgear
    1. Vauxhall Vectra
    2. Touring Caravan
    3. Morris Marina
I am now on my 10th Vauxhall, 3rd caravan and 1st Marina. I would love to have a conversation with Clarkson so as that he could tell me what all the bad bits were about my collection. I would then love to tell him about all the GREAT bits about my collection.
I don't know where they get their marina's from but they are one hell of a scarce car for getting parts.
One really good point of topgear is that they are actually making the marina a more desirable collectors car and therefore the values of these british heritage motoring classics are increasing sharply in value.
Even although I own topgear's three pet hates I think the programme is brilliant.

I would imagine that any Marina hurt during the filming of any stunt, would have been a wreck to start with & i would also imagine that any Marina fan could have attempted to save it, or a chance of buying it like the Tg crew? Like any old griffin, i hate to see these being "wasted" but not everyone can be saved.
Last nights programme was as good as ever, the only way Caravans should travel imho, sorry i don't like vans either, even though my family have them.

Next time you're sat in the middle lane at 75 and I want to overtake, be a good boy, move over and follow the Highway Code "keep left except when overtaking".

With a trailer we're not allowed in the outside lane of a motorway with 3 or more lanes - I know we shouldn't be doing more than 60 but you shouldn't be doing more than 70

One thing i can't be called is a middle lane hogger, these too, are my pet hate, I pull out, overtake then pull back in, unless there's something else coming up to over take in a short distance.

It's the old dears doing 45 down the A17 that annoy me.

You do need a pretty big run up to get past them when you're towing 18 foot of cabin cruiser

Oh - and my first car was a marina !

My caravan sits behind the vectra with no probs at all and it will quite comfortably be towed at 80mph (officially only been tried out on private test track conditions!!!)
I have managed to tow my caravan upto 90mph (again on "proper test track" conditions, ie 3 lanes wide, one set of lanes northbound and other set of lanes southbound) and again was very stable.
I myself don't like caravanners who sit at 45-50 on normal trunk roads, especially when they don't consider the traffic behind them.
I once got stuck behind a caravan being towed by a clio near Norwich and he was only travelling at 35-45mph, I was about 20th in the queue to overtake but no one would overtake. This went on for about 25 miles and it wasn't even a Sunday for having a slow easy drive.
If you have a caravan it doesn't mean that you have to drive slow, just be considerate just like other drivers should be when they pull out in front of you at junctions or cut you up at roundabouts.
We should all remember that a fully laden caravan on the back of your car dramatically increases stopping or slowing down distances and a vast majority of drivers don't realise this, they just think "Oh my god, let's pull out in front of this caravan because if we don't, we will be stuck behind it for the next 20 miles."
