Default Hi, What car to get?

    Hi All,

New here and after some advice as to what engine vectra i should get. Currently own a Mondeo!! And am gonna make the switch to vectra soon. Quite fancy the 2 litre turbo sri. What do you reckon? Can you get a dumpvalve for this one? Haven`t seen any about.

Anyway your comments would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

well i'd get a GSi.. but i may be slightly biased..

the turbo's are really quick cars, even before a re-map. Bailey do a universal dumpvalve kit that should fit..

The men in the know are Duncan, Jamie1979 and Dwabo..

Welcome to the site mate. Good choice of engine, and with the remap as previously stated, a very fast one. Don't totally rule out the oil burners yet though, if you've never driven one of the Vx diesel range, give them a go, you WILL be surprised. Whatever engine you choose, you'll love it

    welcome to the site mate

If you can afford the running costs go for a big petrol engine if not the 1.9 CDTI is a peach

lol - something to do with a recent test drive of mine?

Not sure why you want a dumpvalve - they don't give any more power or anything, just a bigger psssht noise. That may be all that you are after? The 2.0T already has a recirculating dump valve included - so there is no real reason for adding a dump valve (apart from the louder psshht noise).

If you're fancying the 2.0T, they're a good engine. With the BSR remap they're stonking engines!!

The 3.2 is also a cracking engine and also has potential for being tuned.

As also said, if you're considering a diesel (you may not be), then give the 1.9CDTi (150) a shot and see what you think. It's certainly no slouch.

    Are we converting you D

The best thing is to get a decent dealer that has a choice of the different models that you can take for a spin to see how they behave.
I did with my dealer even though i had no intention of buying from him (too expensive). Then i went to where i could get the best deal on the model chosen. In my case the 1.9 CDTi SRi. Found it in a car supermarket 80 miles away for £2000 cheaper than my dealer, even taking into account the lower trade in for my p/ex it still worked out a far better deal. HTH
