    Default cold cold cold

    Hi all,

    Please help.

Bought a Vec 2.2Dti 03 3 weeks ago. Prob with the temp gauge not moving, even after 15 miles of driving. Eventually it moves, but fluctuates, never stays consistent. Heater is warm even when temp gauge is at bottom. Never had a diesel before so is this normal for a 2.2 diesel engine?

What should i expect in terms of warm up times?

    Many thanks.

The Vectra does seem to take a while to warm up though. Mind you I would have thought after 15 miles it would be showing warm. Might need a new thermostat?.

Mine takes about 8 - 9 miles before the needle moves, so yes they do take a while. But warm air does blow out after a couple of miles.

Perhaps as suggested could be the thermostat.

Don't think there's anything to worry about mate, mine does the same thing.

Although mine doesnt move until a fair few miles, it does blow warm air within 2/3miles.

Hi mate, had exactly the same fault and sorted it yesterday, new thermostat is required, did it myself and got the part for £48 (you need to buy ther housing as well).

Took around 1.5 hours to fit and i'm no mechanic

Now the temp guage sits at 85 and all is toasty, previously it would go to zero and move up slightly then back down, very annoying.

Car also ran quite rich I thought, could be because the ECU thought it was constantly cold!

Oh it does take a while to heat up as well, however if anyones temp guage is moving up and down quite a lot below the 80 mark then you'll have the same problem.

    Cheers
